Exam Pattern & Syllabus:
Part-I

Written Examination – (500 marks)
The candidates will take the written examination in two Papers, each Paper carrying a maximum of 250 marks. Each Paper will be of two hours duration.
Part-II
Personality Test: (100 Marks):
Personality test carrying 100 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the
results of the written examination.

Total questions in Paper I –  120 (96 from General Medicine and 24 from Pediatrics);

6. Hematology
7. Endocrinology
8. Metabolic disorders
9. Infections/Communicable Diseases
a) Virus, b) Rickets, c) Bacterial, d) Spirochetal, e) Protozoan, f) Metazoan, g) Fungus
10 Nutrition/Growth
11. Diseases of the skin (Dermatology)
12. Musculoskeletal System
13. Psychiatry
14.  General
15. Emergency Medicine
16. Common Poisoning
17. Snakebite
18. Tropical Medicine
19. Critical Care Medicine
20.  Emphasis on medical procedures
21. Pathophysiological basis of diseases
22. Vaccines preventable diseases and Non-vaccines preventable diseases
23. Vitamin deficiency diseases
24.  In psychiatry includes – Depression, psychosis, anxiety, bipolar diseases, and Schizophrenia.

1. Common childhood emergencies, 2. Basic newborn care, 3. Normal developmental milestones, 4. Accidents and poisonings in children, 5. Birth defects and counseling including autism, 6. Immunization in children, 7. Recognizing children with special needs and management, and 8. National programmes related to child health.

Paper-II – Maximum Marks : 250
(a) Surgery
(b) Gynaecology & Obstetrics
(c) Preventive & Social Medicine
Total questions in Paper II = 120 (40 questions from each part.)

(a) Surgery
(Surgery including ENT, Ophthalmology, Traumatology and Orthopaedics)
General Surgery, Urological Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology E.N.T., Thoracic surgery, Orthopedic surgery, Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, Traumatology, Diagnosis and management of common surgical ailments, Pre-operative and post-operative care of surgical patients, Medicolegal and ethical issues of surgery, Wound healing, Fluid and electrolyte management in surgery, Shock pathophysiology and management.
(b) Gynaecology & Obstetrics
(I) OBSTETRICS
(II) GYNAECOLOGY
(III) FAMILY PLANNING
PREVENTIVE SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY MEDICINE
The written examination in both the papers will be completely of objective (Multiple choice answers) type. The Question Papers (Test Booklets) will be set in English only.
